Uncle Gary's Quilt.

Hobby News. I don't claim to be anything but someone who loves a warm blanket and an excuse to buy fabric!

This is a quilt I made for my Uncle Gary. He lives in Jersey and obviously my mother's maiden name is Johnson. This is a pattern I created - out of necessity. If anyone is interested in it I will consider created a patter for sale. The quilt is friendly to postcards (3X5) as well as photos (4X6) so they are great for any family heritage/memories. I also am a quilter who has time to work on the project 3 hours a week and do not possess a tolerance for more than a couple of months. So this is a simple block - similar to the turning twenty quilts.

This block shows best the fish fabric I picked as a general representation of Highlands, NJ. I grew up with a fisherman family, in a fisherman town, seeing fish, fish bait, fish product, fish boats....you get the picture. This is a quilt created from an 11 year old memory.

Nothing made me more proud then to tell people that my 'Grampa' was one of the most famous, as far as I knew, clammers/lobster fisherman in town. He didn't have a huge commercial boat. He was the salt of the business. I remember featuring him in my girl scout project one year. He and I were beaming together!

My Uncle Gary has always had a heart of gold when I was growing up. That is why this quilt is full of vibrant colors and stark material. Even just last week I was at my parent's house and found some old pictures. I found a couple of my Uncle Gary babysitting me. I was a brat; he was a prince. I love you Uncle Gary.

Pickin' Greenies !!!

This section will be devoted to things I would like to share. Green ideas, solutions, values, etc.....

Love this one! It takes the water saver sink to a hole new level. Sorry, there was no way of saying that without seeming like a complete geek.

Unfortunately, my house is fairly new and for now the money will be going elsewhere. But I saved this link for a year or two now and the company seems to be still going strong. The price isn't unreasonable so why not! Hope you like it. Tara
